Along with that natural fibers such as jute, wicker and rattan have also emerged as a popular choice as they bring a certain character or “charm” to the interior design of any home opine Pritesh Modi and Akshay Adhalrao, Business Owners & Co-Founders at Vita Moderna.

India is a heritage of sorts when it comes to traditional furniture design, your thoughts?
Definitely agree, India has a long tradition of intricate craftsmanship and art when it comes to furniture. It comes from long family traditions of furniture making. This is similar to the European furniture industry and Indians appreciate it when it comes to selecting furniture for their homes.

With the infusion of global sensibilities in Indian mindsets, how is furniture design being perceived in current times?
Like I mentioned before, we as Indians appreciate the latest global furniture designs and their style. Indian like fusion in their homes. You will definitely find that one vintage statement in an Indian home.

Apart from wood, what according to you are some of the materials which have emerged as a popular choice for furniture designing?
Wood will always rule the furniture design however, natural fibers such as jute, wicker and rattan has also emerged as a popular choice as they bring a certain character or “charm” to the interior design of any home. The use of leather, natural and synthetic, in furniture such as armchairs is another trend that we see resurfacing in 2020. We also foresee metal as a material for furniture as it shines in different ranges from industrial style to the brightest as part of interior decor.

In a timeline when a majority of people have to thrive in a limited sq.ft area, what kind of furniture can add beauty, value and aesthetics in the existing living spaces?
Every square foot is important in a  city apartment. Furniture which acts like storage also is important in small spaces. Wall hung floating shelves declutter the floor and can give an illusion of a bigger space. Also, lightweight stackable stools are light and can be moved and used in multiple ways. So basically,  practical light weight and multifunctional furniture is the way to go for smaller apartments
