Jaipur Metro to get train control system from Alstom [June 2012]

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has awarded Alstom a contract to supply the Urbalis train control system to corridor 2 of the upcoming Jaipur metro project. The contract includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the complete train control, traffic management and signaling systems for corridor 2 (EW-A section) of phase I of Jaipur metro.
Alstom’s Urbalis system enables automated train operation and traffic management, ensuring optimal train driving and energy saving while guaranteeing maximum safety, flexible operations and heightened passenger comfort. This is the fifth metro line in India to be equipped with Urbalis after Delhi lines 1 and 2 and Bangalore Lines 1 and 2.
The Phase-I of the Jaipur Metro Rail project will consist of two corridors providing connectivity to North-South and East-West corridor. The 23 kms long, corridor-I (North- South) will connect Sitapura to Ambabari. This corridor will be 5 km underground and 18 kms elevated. The 11.6 kms long, corridor-II (East-West) will connect Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar with 2.3 kms being underground and rest 9.3 kms elevated. The EW-A section comes under the East-West corridor.
