Laser Rangefinder from Bosch, the latest entrant in the measuring segment, becomes ideal for accurate and quick measurement employing state-of-the-art laser technology. In an interview with Subhajit Roy, Panish PK talks at length about how measuring technology is evolving.
Could you discuss on the latest technological development in the field of measuring as far as construction-related activities are concerned? With the advent of technology and significant advancements, professionals today demand speed and precision. In construction and related activities in particular, attention is given to detail and precise measurement because of problems caused by error, inaccuracy, and imprecision.

Some of these tools are also equipped with Bluetooth connectivity features which enable the user to transfer measured data onto smartphones, PCs, tablets to be processed in versatile ways.

The display comes with a backlight for easy reading and accessories include red glasses which provide a clearer view. 
Where does the product stand in terms of accuracy?The measuring tools from Bosch are ideal for every professional user who wants to take precise measurements quickly.Equipped with state-of-the-art laser technology the products deliver results with maximum precision and reliability.
The typical accuracy of the range of laser finders under this range varies between (+/-) 1 to 1.5 mm.
GLM 250 Professional has a typical measurement accuracy of (+/-) 1 mm and a typical measurement time of less than 0.5 seconds.
GLM 40 Professional, GLM 50 Professional, GLM 80 Professional and GLM 100 C Professional, have a typical measurement accuracy of (+/-) 1.5 mm and a typical measurement time of less than 0.5 seconds.
R 60 is a measuring rail for use with GLM 80 Professional as a digital spirit level. It has a typical measurement accuracy of (+/-) 0.05 degree bubble vial.
Among all, the tool GLM 40 Professional is most popular. This tool is ideal for every construction site since it is dust and splash-protected and it is equipped with softgrip. Additionally, it comes equipped with other functions such as continuous measurement, addition and subtraction function for considerable time-saving.
How do you see the market for such products in the Indian market?We see a promising future since this will always be a requisite. Over the last three years we have observed rapid growth as most customers are switching to digital measuring tools, purely for convenience. With 4,000 tools being sold in 2012 and 12,000 in 2014, our projected target is 30,000 for 2015.
Overall, customers are satisfied with the tools since they are compact, competitively priced and easy to operate. They are able to measure easily, quickly and inefficiencies have reduced significantly owing to the precise measurement these tools offer.
What are the other products in pipeline for construction vertical?The construction industry is a major growth driver for the power tool industry. Since all construction requires the use of accurate measurement and calculations, our tools are engineered to cater to these needs. In other aspects of construction, Bosch has extensive product offerings. These include impact drills, demolition hammers, rotary drills, rotary hammers and concrete grinders. Other than the main line construction tools, Bosch also offers specialty tools such as professional high pressure washers and heavy-duty vacuum cleaners.
