Adani and Thales collaborate to transform Indian airports

Adani Airports and Thales are working together to improve operations and passenger experience through biometric technologies, hence increasing security and efficiency.

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), India’s largest private airport operator, and Thales, a global technology leader, are forming a strategic partnership to transform airport operations and improve passenger experiences across India. Thales will offer integrated solutions that focus on three key areas: smart airport security, biometric passenger journeys, and operational efficiency.

Thales continues to be deploying its Fly to Gate biometric system at seven AAHL airports since early 2024, providing touchless, face recognition-based ID verification that eliminates the need for physical documents and reduces passenger processing times by as much as 30 percent. The solution, which is compatible with the government’s DigiYatra effort, improves security while simplifying travel.

AAHL is broadening the relationship to include the implementation of an Airport Operations Control Centre (APOC) at all of its airports. This cloud-based platform will centralise operational data and use automation, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve airport management and security. The APOC will increase efficiency by forecasting resource shortages and optimising procedures.

The seven airports that now use Fly to Gate technology are Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, and Thiruvananthapuram. This agreement positions AAHL to help India achieve its aim of becoming the world’s largest aviation market by 2047.
