Arjun Rathi Design unveils the Shikara Pendant light
Mumbai-centred principal at Arjun Rathi Design and co-founder of Design Democracy and Rural Modern Glass Studio, Arjun Rathi is renowned for his distinctive light collections that combine design, art, and function.
Arjun Rathi unveiled his most recent creation, the Shikara Pendant Light, which was inspired by Indian temples. With its elegant proportions that evoke the architectural magnificence derived from customary beauty and legacy, the light exudes a sense of handmade authenticity.
The Shikhara Pendant Light, which skillfully combines design and symbolism, is a compelling example of how philosophy, art, and culture can come together. This pendant lamp becomes a visual representation of the traditional Panchamahabhuta Bhumi concept, taking its cue from the harmonious proportions found in Indian temples.
The pendant changes into a lyrical depiction of elemental balance, representing the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether. Grounding aesthetics are one way that the earth element manifests itself, giving the design a sense of rootedness. An elegant and dynamic aspect is added by fluid lines, which evoke the water element. The fire element is embodied by radiant lights, which give the room a cosy, dynamic feel. The design’s lightness, which symbolises the air element, gives it an airy, beautiful quality. The Shikhara Pendant Light as a whole transcends its utilitarian function and becomes a profoundly rich cultural expression, echoing the ageless wisdom of antiquated ideologies.
