In a conversation with ACE Update, Abhijit Gupta talks about CE industry and how it is going shape the Indian economy.
India and construction and infrastructure industryClear growth oriented intention shown by the new government in clearing policy related hurdles should translate into tangible demand in the next fiscal. The greater transparency in project allotment through e-auctions, flagship Swachh Bharat Programme including river cleaning and focus better quality roads. Highways is also likely to translate into greater industrial demand in the construction equipment sector in near future.The Indian construction equipment industry with the right stimulus from the government should grow at a CAGR of nearly 12-15 per cent up to 2020.
With the world looking at India as indicated by the recent financial commitments from major economic powers such as Japan, China, Russia and the USA, coupled with a clear intent shown by the Indian government, this level of growth looks completely plausible.
Growing Case IndiaThe intent shown by the incumbent government aimed at the resolution of procedural, policy related hurdles such as environmental clearances, land acquisition issues, transparent e-auction of tenders, contracts an so forth will have a positive impact on the CE industry.
As the utilisation of equipment goes up fresh requirements on the existing product lines and new product lines or applications might emerge from many areas. Case India, being a major player in the Indian CE sectorfor over 25 years and a global leader since 1842, is poised to benefit from the overall growth in the industry.
‘Make in India’ mission The “Make In India” campaign is surely going to garner more interests in the Indian manufacturing sector with concomitant rise in the employability of the masses. CE industry is also going to follow suit.

For this, Case has introduced globally followed “World-Class Manufacturing” processes at the Indian CE plant. Case has also started exporting to developed as well as developing countries that reflects the quality of the products. Going forward, the quality products from Pithampur plant will not only open many export markets for the company, but will also benefit the Indian customers with a superior quality offering.
Case India and current market scenarioBusiness performance for 2014 has been consistent with Case’s plans. It introduced the ne EX Series of backhoe loaders in 76/86/96 hp as well as a new soil compactor 1107 DX and the response from the customers has been really encouraging.
In 2014, it increased its market share in the compactor segment and maintained its leadership position in terms of market share. Case has also consolidated its strong position in the loader backhoe segment to remain a dominant player.
To enhance its product portfolio from among the world-class portfolio of Case, it has so far introduced to the Indian market skid steer loaders, motor graders and wheel loaders.
