CII-IGBC conference on green underlines importance of green buildings
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) of CII with the support of all the stakeholders is actively involved in spearheading the green building movement in the country. IGBC aims to underline the need and importance of green buildings which not only addresses ecological issues and concerns but also facilitate market transformation and provide new untapped business opportunities.
CII-IGBC organised its 2nd conference on ‘Sustainable Development for a Green Goa on May 30th and 31st 2013 in Goa.
Green movement being an initiative to help save and rebuild the ecology and the environment, no delegate fees was charged for participation in the conference. The objective of the conference is to mainstream green business movement, facilitate Goa emerge as one of the major players in promoting green practices, expose the participants to the latest global techniques, concepts, in green businesses, to promote the use of green practices and concepts in various sectors, showcase the latest and emerging green trends and technologies, provide a platform for networking facilitate in exploring new business opportunities, creating opportunities in green education and green jobs, and enable market transformation of green products and equipment.
Eminent speakers from across India and abroad shared their good practices and success stories and suggestes the way forward for ‘Sustainable Development for a Green Goa. Another important feature of the conference is the display of the latest and emerging green building and environment friendly technologies in the Pre-function area. This would provide an excellent opportunity for the visitors to have a feel and touch of the products and also encourage them to go the green way.
The conference on Green Building Legislations focused on India witnessing tremendous growth in infrastructural development and the challenge of preserving the environment. The inaugural session was addressed by the CM of Goa, Manohar Parrikar.
