Energy efficient buildings and solutions
India is yet to uncover its full potential for growth in infrastructure sector and energy efficiency is key towards building a sustainable tomorrow. Indian villages and cities are fast developing, which can benefit immensely from best practices to save operational costs and contribute to the environment, through adoption of energy efficient practices in infrastructure. “Through ACREX Hall of Fame Energy Efficiency Drive, which is in its third edition this year, Danfoss Industries showcase energy-efficient buildings across India and the latest world-class solutions, which will serve as an inspiration for the upcoming commercial building projects as well as retrofit projects, to actively pursue solutions for energy efficiency thus creating benchmarks which will stand testimony to India’s excellence in HVAC&R in Commercial Buildings. Every year, ACREX Hall of Fame recognises the best project amongst these to serve as a stimulus to many more,” informs Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss Industries Pvt. Ltd.

He adds, “Presently, only one-third of India’s infrastructure has been built and two-third is yet to be built. With the encouragement by the government to build smarter cities, it can be understood that infrastructure is a primary tool for the progress of our nation. However, in order to facilitate this growth, it is necessary that individuals and industries become aware of the limited availability of our natural resources and invest in energy efficient interventions in order to maximise the potential usage of energy resources.”

Energy efficient interventions in commercial buildings have the potential to save not less than 30 per cent in energy consumption and thereby enable us to meet the rising demand for power, which will reduce the overall life cycle cost of the CAPEX. With the right approach, the sector can minimise its effect of climate change and act towards incorporating sustainability as a core for the upcoming infrastructure projects in the county. Purushothaman adds, “In this regard, Danfoss India, in partnership with ACREX will recognise the excellence achieved in conserving energy by commercial buildings in India. By 2047, electricity demand from buildings is expected to increase over 11 times and it is important that we recognise energy efficiency as the most important fuel for us to leave a sustainable future and initiatives such as the Hall of Fame will enable us to look at iconic projects within India from which we can learn and adapt.”
