Kirby organises seminar on revision of Indian design codes

In an effort to bring Indian design codes up to international standards, Kirby India recently organised an interactive technical seminar at Hyderabad focusing on the Indian IS 800:2007 design codes.
Chaired by Dr. S.R. Satish Kumar, Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai and a member of the standing committee of advisors for the code, the seminar was attended by the structural design team from Kirby India.
Many important topics were discussed including stringent provisions in design and detailing, particularly with respect to earthquake code which is mandatory for both seismic and non-seismic zones, increase in weight of frames and bracing, and the correct interpretation of intricate clauses in the code. It was an excellent opportunity for Kirby India to be at the forefront of engineering practice in India, and the participants eagerly contributed to the groundbreaking exercises.As a part of its skill enrichment for employees and knowledge sharing for the greater community initiative, Kirby India is planning similar interactive seminars in near future.
