Bosch GCM 8 SJL Professional sliding miter saw: offers maximum horizontal cutting capacity
With the GCM 8 SJL Professional sliding miter saw, Bosch introduced a tool that makes it easier to cut wide workpieces such as large pieces of laminate, parquet, decking and floor boards, and also furniture components or cable ducts. This is made possible by the high horizontal cutting capacity of 312 mm, which is so far unique on bench-top tools in this class.
The GCM 8 SJL Professional enables professional tradespeople to easily saw panels of this size. Further advantages are the tool’s low weight of about 17 kgs, its compact design and its handy carrying handle. They make it easier to use the tool on the jobsite.
Powerful tool with improved dust extraction The GCM 8 SJL Professional offers 15 percent more cutting width and 100 watts more power than its predecessor model, the GCM 8 SJ Professional. Its 1600 watt motor drives the saw blade at 5,500 revolutions per minute to ensure especially clean, fast working. Tried-and-tested functions have been adopted from the predecessor, such as the soft start electronics for a long motor lifetime and a jolt-free start of the tool, and the projection of a laser line that makes it easier for users to make precise sizing cuts. A new feature is the two-point dust extraction, which is being used for the first time on a Bosch sliding miter saw. A dust extraction outlet is positioned as usual on the tool body behind the saw blade. In addition to this, there is a second dust extraction outlet fitted on the saw arm itself. It moves forwards with the arm with each sliding movement. This ensures that sawing dust and chips, which are ejected backwards by the rotation of the saw blade, are effectively extracted in all applications.
Easier angle settingThe bevel angles are especially quick and easy to adjust on the GCM 8 SJL Professional: you simply throw the new rocker lever and fix it again at the desired value on the scale. Bevels of 47 degrees to the left to 2 degrees to the right are possible. The miter angles are also freely adjustable and lockable. The work table engages automatically at the standard miter angles. The tool’s features are completed by two pull-out side extensions for safe sawing of longer workpieces.
The GCM 8 SJL Professional sliding miter saw will be available at specialist retail outlets from February 2013 onwards at a price of 499 euros plus VAT. It is supplied with a standard saw blade for woodworking and a G-clamp for fixing the material. Anyone wishing to make especially precise cuts in wood can use the “Expert for Wood” circular saw blade from the Bosch accessories range.
