Metro line 12 from Kalyan to Taloja

In Navi Mumbai, the decision to expand Metro Line-5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan) to Taloja is based on the Comprehensive Transportation Study (CTS)-2008 for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, at Dombivli’s Premier Ground laid the groundwork for the Mumbai Metro Line-12 (Kalyan-Taloja), a major step towards improving the city’s urban transport infrastructure.

This extension, which encompasses regions under the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), will spur development and provide these neighbourhoods with a bright future. Additionally, the longer route is expected to shorten the time it takes to get from Kalyan-Dombivli to Navi Mumbai, improving the efficiency of commutes.

Particularly noteworthy is Metro Line 12, which has 19 stations over 22.173 kilometres in an elevated layout and is expected to cost ₹ 5,865 crore to complete. With a projected daily ridership of 2.62 lakh by 2031–2032 and 2.94 lakh by 2041–2042, the project is slated to be completed by December 30, 2027.

There are several advantages to the Mumbai Metro Line-12 extension. First, it will save an amazing forty-five minutes on the journey between Kalyan and Taloja. The goal of the proposed integration of Metro Line 12 and the Navi Mumbai Metro Line at the Navi Mumbai Metro station is to provide smooth communication between Kalyan-Dombivli and Navi Mumbai.

Furthermore, it is anticipated that the project will provide many job opportunities and boost economic growth by drawing investments and encouraging the development of commercial and real estate development around metro stations. In addition, the launch of Mumbai Metro Line 12 is expected to offer a reliable and efficient means of transport, lowering the danger of traffic accidents. It is expected that the metro line will result in fewer automobiles on the road, which will reduce the cost of both construction and maintenance. Additionally, by promoting the use of public transit rather than private automobiles, the metro line is probably going to ease traffic and shorten travel times. It is anticipated that the ensuing drop in fuel use will improve air quality, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and promote environmental sustainability. All things considered, the opening of Mumbai Metro Line 12 promises to change the city’s transportation environment, promote development, and improve the standard of living for its citizens.
