Andhra Pradesh secures ₹6,585 crore for national highway development

With ₹6,585 crore sanctioned for highway development, Andhra Pradesh aims to enhance transportation infrastructure and facilitate economic growth across the state.

The Central government has sanctioned ₹6,585 crore for the development of seven national highway projects covering 384 km across the state of Andhra Pradesh, according to the state’s minister of roads and buildings, BC Janardhan Reddy. This large amount of funds will enable much-needed infrastructure upgrades and boost connectivity throughout the area.

Important roads like Kodumuru–Pericherla, Sangameshwaram–Nallakaluva, Nandyal–Kurnool, Vempally–Chagalamarri, Gorantla–Hindupur, Muddanuru–B Kothapalli, and Pendurthy–Bavardha are among the projects that have been approved. Reddy emphasises that these initiatives had been planned as part of the Bharat Mala project but were delayed for different reasons.

During a press briefing at the Secretariat, Reddy gave Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu credit for making the acquisition of these monies a top priority and working closely with representatives from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and the Prime Minister’s Office. Reddy underlines how crucial these highway projects are to the state’s infrastructure and economic growth.

Reddy’s recent trip to Delhi, in which he had a meeting with Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport, proved crucial in bringing these projects back to life. His successful lobbying efforts to secure their funding resulted in their removal from the Bharat Mala project and their inclusion in the National Highways Ordinary Programme by the standing finance committee.

With the goal of enhancing access to important places, this investment will help Andhra Pradesh achieve its goals of increasing overall economic prospects as well as transportation efficiency. The state government intends to improve road infrastructure and accelerate project development for the benefit of both enterprises and inhabitants by quickly mobilising these resources.
