HCC acquires contract for 4.3 km Agardanda Creek bridge

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) recently got a ₹1,031.6 crore contract to construct a two-lane bridge over Agardanda Creek.

HCC obtains a contract of ₹1,031.6 crore by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Ltd. (MSRDC). The project calls for the construction of a two-lane bridge over Agardanda Creek in Raigad District, Maharashtra, along the Revas-Reddi Coastal Highway (MSH-04). The project will be completed using an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model.

The 4.3-kilometer-long bridge will be made up of numerous main components. There are two approaches: 45 meters on the Agardanda side and 145 meters on the Dighi side. The main bridge will span 4,120 meters. The structure will be built near the offshore areas of Agardanda Jetty and Dighi Port, which are major hubs for regional connection.

Notably, the bridge will have two navigation spans, each with a horizontal clearance of 100 metres and a vertical clearance of 15 metres. These spans are meant to handle marine traffic efficiently. The bridge’s superstructure will be cable-stayed and span 420 meters in total. The span layout consists of lengths of 67.5 meters, 142.5 meters, 142.5 meters, and 67.5 meters, resulting in a strong structure that combines usefulness with modern engineering.

Once built, the Agardanda Creek Bridge is intended to dramatically improve regional connectivity, saving travel time and supporting economic development. The project is another significant contribution by HCC to Maharashtra’s increasing infrastructure environment, cementing the company’s role in determining the state’s development trajectory.
