Self-curing plasters for high-rise buildings
This interaction explores the unique properties of Plaster Master self-curing, ready-mix mortar and how it is best suited for high-rise buildings.
Can you briefly overview your company and describe the products offered?
We are an innovative construction dry mortar manufacturing unit based in Udaipur, Rajasthan. We produce self-curing, ready-mix mortar. The product does not shrink and carries superior thermal insulation and waterproofing properties. The plaster can be applied using traditional methods followed by masons. One of the biggest benefits is that our product helps conserve water, a policy that aligns with the Indian government’s effort to protect natural resources, especially water.
Could you provide an overview of the projects where your products are being used?
Since we are based in Udaipur, most of our major projects are in Rajasthan. However, we are also associated with several central government organisations, such as CPWD, DRDO, Defense, Indian Railways, and the Airport Authority, to whose contractors our product is supplied. We also collaborate with several prominent builders for their projects in Rajasthan. We have also partnered with Hindustan Zinc and Wonder Cement and provided our product to them.
Please walk us through the quality standards you adhere to for your products.
Our products undergo rigorous lab testing from NABL-accredited laboratories. For all central government projects, our materials are tested by a third-party agency approved by NABL as part of the mandate. Our materials are widely recognised and used as being environmentally friendly. The central government agencies that we partner with consider our products green products.
Can you elaborate on the various application areas of your product?
The mortar product can be used for masonry and other plaster applications on different surfaces. It is suitable for ceilings, bathrooms, and plastering of both external and internal walls. The product also works well on stone surfaces, red bricks, concrete blocks, and more. It is versatile enough for internal repairs and can be used for floor fixing.
What qualities or special properties set your product apart from your competitors?
Our product achieves significant early strength. According to IS standards, a mortar must have a minimum compressive strength of 5 MPa by the 28th day. Our product will reach this strength by the third day without curing. So, after just three days, putty application, white cement application, or colouring can be done without delay. The early strength reduces project costs and saves a considerable amount of time and labour, expediting faster project completion.
Could you share information on the new products you plan to introduce into the construction sector soon?
In addition to our current product, we are planning to introduce a spray plaster in the next 5 to 6 months, which, we expect, will significantly speed up the construction process. We are also developing a coloured plaster that will allow the exterior of buildings to have colour integrated directly into the plaster. Furthermore, we are working on an eco-friendly product focused on thermal insulation, aiming to provide approximately 6 to 7 degrees of thermal insulation.
How does your product cater to the high-rise construction industry, considering high-rise buildings are increasingly common today?
Many companies offer ready-mix mortar, typically in 40 kg packs or less. In contrast, we provide 50 kg packs. One of the advantages of this larger packaging is that the product can be transported easily, just like cement, and can be stored without issues. Its shelf life is excellent, as it does not decompose quickly. Additionally, the product does not require curing. This feature mainly benefits high-rise buildings, where curing can be challenging. Eliminating the curing requirement makes our product an excellent choice for high-rise construction.
