Enabling safety at height
Use of an Ariel Work Platform (AWP) is becoming very common across sectors wherein people are required to access and work at heights. Life in any form is precious and hence it becomes imperative that that the person using an AWP is able to work safely. In the past many accidents have happened across the world and unfortunately even lives have been lost due to a situation of entrapment. To explain a bit more in detail, when a person is using the AWP operating it from the platform and extending the boom to access the height and location he wants to be in, he is unaware of any obstruction behind him. In many occasions people have got trapped and lost their life since they got crushed with an unseen obstruction behind them. To address this major issue, AWP manufacturers tirelessly worked to find solutions. “We at Haulotte also did the same and after extensive research and testing introduced our patented Activ Sheild Bar which is a secondary guarding device fitted on the platform and helps the operator to retrieve himself from a situation of entrapment. This solution has been welcomes across the industry. The best part is not only a dangerous situation is averted, the machine can be put back to work immediately thereafter by just pushing a reset button to reactivate the system,” says Souma Ray, Director, Haulotte India Pvt Ltd.

Active Screen saves time and money
Informing on the advanced technology by the company Ray says, “In our new generation machines, in case of any breakdown the machine downtime is considerably reduced as the fault identification tool or system which we term as ‘Active Screen’ is installed within it on the lower control panel wherein the users service person or operator can themselves do the fault identification and get a pictorial description of the fault giving its exact location on the machine. This feature has been welcomed overwhelmingly by our customers worldwide, since it saves booth time and money when a machine is under breakdown.”

At Haulotte, the design team is continuously innovating newer features and shall continue to introduce them from time to time.

Technology is making equipment friendly
Technological advancement and successful implementation of the same is a key to success for any equipment manufacturer. Today’s technology is making equipment more versatile, productive, and safe and user friendly, believes Ray. He says, “As advancement takes place in technologies, training becomes that much more important in order to use and maintain such equipment. The construction industry in India is also witnessing the same change. With the impetus our government is putting on infrastructure development across the country, meeting project completion timelines efficiently, productively and safely gains utmost importance.” Haulotte being a major manufacturer in the Aerial Access Equipment field is playing a major role in introducing newer state-of-the-art yet user friendly technology in its machines.
