Will 2017 mark the turning point of India’s infra drive?

With the role out of the GST in near time and intense focus from the government for initiating policies that would ensure time-bound creation of world-class infrastructure in the country.

Could you brief us about your company?
Uniter Engineering Products is a Gujarat based leading manufacturer of quality paver finisher machines. We carry business legacy of more than four decades started in name of Unitor Engineering Products. With the motto of establishing as quality brand product the company meets high standards in terms of quality, performance and operation. Our clients include iconic infrastructure companies and region specific road contractors.

We are pioneer in indigenous developing and manufacturing of hydrostatic drive paver finisher with electronic sensor for slope and grade control.

We have specialised road construction equipment namely paver with parabolic screed for test track paving and hydraulic power packs for holding equipment working on slope.

How do you assess the current road building equipment market?
The Indian construction equipment industry is reviving after a gap of four years and is expected to grow looking over the increased efforts of our government to develop infrastructure across the country. The government is attracting both domestic and international players to boost the road construction in the country. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) approval in construction development sector and the government
measure of a single window clearance facility to accord speedy approval of construction projects is a welcome move.

In the road’s sector, the government’s policy to increase private sector participation has proved to be a boon for the infrastructure industry with a large number of private players entering the business through the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Further, 2,000 km of coastal connectivity roads have been identified for construction and development to facilitate connectivity of ports and remote villages. All together it will be a good time for construction equipment industry.

What is your outlook for growth this year?
With the role out of the GST in near time and intense focus from the government for initiating policies that would ensure time-bound creation of world-class infrastructure in the country. This financial year will be a turning point in the history of infrastructure development. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and Shipping, has again set a high target for NHAI in this financial year – 6,000 km for construction and 10,000 km for award. Last year, it built and expanded about 2,600 km and the allocation to the national highways sector was also increased by 12 per cent to ` 64,900 crore for 2017-18 as the sector has always been a priority sector for the government.

There was a significant allocation to the infrastructure sector in the 12th Five-Year Plan and the government has made an allocation of ` 2,41,387 crore for roads, railways and ports in 2017-18. The Government of India is taking every possible initiative to boost the infrastructure sector.

What is your most advanced technology for road making?
We have introduced a new paver Model UHD-45 to upgrade the conventional mechanical paver finishers. It is equipped with hydrostatic drive for traction and hydraulic drive for conveyor for paving. Hydrostatic drive for traction gives stepless speed from zero to maximum and has only two gears low for working and high for travelling. Clutches are not there in hydrostatic drive. Hydraulic drive is very smooth in working and has very less maintenance as compared to mechanical drive.

This machine is specially designed for paving road upto width from 2.5 metres to 4.5 metres. As the size is compact it is easy to work and relocate. Special care was been taken for easy operation and servicing in the machine.

How unique are your paver finishers?
For safety purpose most of the maintenance and servicing parts are kept on left hand side. It neglects accident which happens while servicing on traffic road. Shutters are given on both sides for easy servicing and periodic maintenance. Screed extension controls are also given in operator panel besides on screed panel. Maximum usage of MS pipes as they give longer life, easy to clamp and occupies less space.

We provide Total Life Cycle Value to our customers by offering sustainable products, genuine parts, good consultation and reliable field service.

Would you like to diversify in to new business segments?
Yes, we have also diversified into providing unconventional construction machinery solutions for road and other civil construction projects. Lastly we had manufactured paver with parabolic screed for test track paving and power packs for holding paver and rolling equipment while working on slope.
