India is the second fastest growing economy in the world after China with investments in the infrastructure playing a key role. Today, realising the need of better infrastructure, the government of India has increased the expenditure in the infrastructure sector to provide impetus to the economy and industry. With rapid developments in the infrastructure sector, the construction equipment industry in India has been growing at 18 per cent year on year.
On that note, to facilitate a global platform to construction equipment and related industries in showcasing their strength, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been organising Excon once in every two years. Excon 2011 is scheduled to be held between 23 and 27 November at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in Bangalore. As far as Indian industry is concerned, it has huge expectation from the upcoming 6th edition of Excon. “The last edition in 2009 was held at a time when the industry was going through a slowdown and whereas this time, we are enjoying a good growth as an industry”, comments VG Sakthikumar, COO, Schwing Stetter India.
Many companies take opportunities to launch new products in an international platform like Excon. Schwing Stetter is not an exception. At Excon, the company has decided to launch many new products in all the categories like Batching Plants, Truck Mixers, Concrete Pumps and Boom Pumps etc.
However, Mr. Sakthikumar feels, “Excon has become a platform for not only new product launches but also has become the venue for many overseas companies announcing their arrival in India. In the last two editions, the number of overseas participants has shot up substantially.  This has made the industry more competitive and today’s equipment buyer has more choice to pick”.Recognising Excon as a premier show, the equipment manufacturers in India are also gearing up to showcase their capabilities. “The component manufacturers from overseas and buyers from the neighbouring countries have also started patronising Excon”, Mr. Sakthikumar informed.
