Gadkari announces major road projects in Delhi

In addition to stressing the need of future hydrogen-powered vehicles and addressing construction delays caused by the election, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari promises over ₹70,000 crore in road improvements in the National Capital.

According to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, road projects of more than ₹70,000 crore are now under way in the National Capital and some of its surrounding areas. The projects involve building motorways, highways, and roads.

The Minister of Road Transport and Highways stressed during an occasion that hydrogen-powered cars are the way of the future and will greatly reduce the pollution issues brought on by fossil fuels. He emphasised the value of information as a potent instrument and the quick speed at which technology is developing.

Due to delays in different permissions brought on by the state election processes, the government has set a temporary target of building 10,421 km of national highways for this fiscal year, which is 15 percent less than what it accomplished last year, Gadkari announces on Thursday.
In the current fiscal year, the ministry has built 1,934 km of highways between April and June, as opposed to 2,250 km in the same period previous year.

“The preoccupation of district authorities in all states with the general election 2024 has affected the pace of construction and the resolution of obstacles to some extent,” he replied in a reply to the Lok Sabha. Nonetheless, the Ministry is working hard to enhance the construction’s speed.
