Henkel India completes Loctite plant in Kurkumbh

Phase III of Henkel India’s Kurkumbh factory is now complete, boosting regional output of high-performance adhesive solutions to satisfy rising demand.

The Kurkumbh, Maharashtra, manufacturing facility of Henkel Adhesives Technologies India Private Limited (Henkel India) completed Phase III of its construction. The Kurkumbh plant was established in 2020 to meet the increasing needs of Indian businesses in terms of high-performance adhesive, sealant, and surface treatment products. Along with other members of the company’s senior management, Mark Dorn, Executive Vice President of Henkel Adhesive Technologies, officially opened the new Loctite facility, which bears the name of the well-known brand Loctite from Henkel.

Henkel Adhesive Technologies is a major development engine for this sector today, after entering the Indian market in 1996. In order to keep up with the country’s rapid growth, Henkel has been strategically investing consistently. Currently, the organisation maintains a substantial presence in India and runs two innovation centres, five production facilities, a customer experience centre, a packaging academy, and an application centre catering to the footwear sector.

Henkel’s goal to propel expansion in the Indian market appears in the new Loctite factory built at the Kurkumbh manufacturing location. By further localising the product line and providing services to Indian firms, the facility will lessen reliance on imports. Additionally, it will aid in closing the high-performance adhesive solutions supply-demand gap for the automotive component and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) industries. Henkel Adhesive Technologies is in a good position to satisfy the demand that is emerging in these rapidly expanding market segments.

Henkel Adhesive Technologies Executive Vice President Mark Dorn met during the event, saying, “India has emerged as a focus market for Henkel globally.” Our goal to establish itself as a strong, independent national player in the worldwide market with a strong local presence is exemplified by the new Loctite facility. Henkel is dedicated to promoting growth in India and creating ecosystems of creative and sustainable solutions with our partners and clients through ongoing investments, effective supply chains, and customer-focused solutions.

Additionally, Henkel’s commitment to the community as a conscientious corporate citizen is demonstrated on the Kurkumbh website. It is certified LEED Gold, an uncommon attribute among chemical factories, and it satisfies the strictest sustainability standards. Furthermore, Henkel wants Kurkumbh to be carbon neutral for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. The location has installed on-site solar panels and signed a green electrical energy Power Purchase Agreement in order to achieve this goal.

“The expansion of our manufacturing footprint reinforces Henkel’s sustained commitment to making India a manufacturing hub for advanced and high-performance adhesive, sealant, and functional coating solutions,” says S. Sunil Kumar, Country President of Henkel India. The Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS), which facilitates quick material storage and retrieval, is a standout feature of the new Loctite facility. This plant will continue to support the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ mission while utilising Industry 4.0 to maximise production efficiency and spur profitable, organic growth for Henkel India.
