K-Lite: illuminating railway coaches

K-Lite’s capability to manufacture and test the custom-built luminaires enabled the company to cater luminaire requirements of prestigious Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, Palace on Wheel EMUs, Kolkata – Metro and Delhi Metro (DMRC), Jaipur Metro, Bengaluru Metro and now to Sri Lankan Railway coaches. The company’s association with railways and ICF extends over a period of nearly 40 years.

The lighting solutions provider was also entrusted with assembling and testing of luminaires for Delhi Metro Corporation (DMRC)’s railway coaches. This was due to the company’s technically-superior developed fixtures which could also meet the target for locally manufactured portion. The metro coaches of DMRC carry K-Lite luminaires.

Soon after framing the RDSO standards for LED luminaires for railway, the company was approached by ICF to develop the same conforming to these standards, K-Lite readily accepted, designed and developed the coach lighting with LED and successfully supplied for the Kolkata Metro coaches. It has also developed the deep drawn type LED luminaires for railways.

Presently, the company is entrusted by ALSTOM / Germany who is manufacturing locomotives for railways, to supply the luminaires for the engine room and cabin. These luminaires have been specially developed and has undergone testing and validation conforming to their demanding requirements as per European Standards. K-Lite is also associated with the prestigious Train 18 from ICF and other new design of coaches being introduced.
