The 188-km AVMRP reduces the distance between Ahmedabad and Kutch, thanks to Marini for its timely completion
The 188-km long Ahmedabad-Viramgam-Maliya Road Project (AVMRP) is setting Gujarat again on the fast track of growth. The road connects Ahmedabad to Viramgam — now a popular name on the world map.
The AVMRP reduces the distance by around 80 km between Ahmedabad and Kutch. The road also connects Gujarat’s emerging industrial hub Sanand to some of the major ports in the state including Kandla and Mundra. By building this highway Gujarat has already cleared the route for various auto-giants including Tata, Ford, Peugeot and Maruti, who have now invested heavily in the state.
The project cost estimated at Rs. 1,040 crore was built by India’s infrastructure major L&T. This prestigious, time-bound project again needed nothing else, but the reliability and performance of a Marini. The total project was divided in to three zones, and four Marini plants were brought in to produce high-quality mix for this historical project. The Marini’s collectively produced close to 15,00,000 tonnes of quality hot mix in a time period of around 30 months.
L&T chose a very smart mix of asphalt plants for this prestigious project, enabling them speed and productivity. A very fast mobilisation was required to take advantage of the working season. To do so, the forever favourite Roadstars were mobilised, and work on the project began immediately on full swing. Roadstar range of mobile plants is the perfect selection for quick set-up and high rate of production.
Two 200 tonne/hour plants were then added to enhance the production, as soon as the laying sites were ready to receive larger quantities of asphalt. The plant location and site management were keys to the success of the project, ensuring productivity and profitability.
Arvinda Ghosh, heading the equipment operations on the project, states, “Reliability and productivity are two main reasons for success on any project.” Blesson Varghese, MD, Marini India, “Producing 1.5 million tonnes of asphalt on a project in such a short duration needs a system designed for high performance and consistent operations. Speed with accuracy is what differentiates Marini. Automatic dosing with proprietary bitumen weighing system ensures the highest-quality mix in the industry.”
In order to support this and other important projects in the states, where Marini’s have been employed, the company has already established a full-fledged plant care centre.
