PM Modi inaugurate infrastructure projects in Mumbai

In order to improve connectivity, Prime Minister Modi opened major infrastructure projects in Mumbai, like as the Thane-Borivali Tunnel and the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road.

The Rs 16,600 crore Thane Borivali Tunnel Project witnesses the Prime Minister lay its foundation stone. The Western Express Highway on the Borivali side and Thane Ghodbander Road on the Thane side will be directly connected by this Twin Tube Tunnel, which would run beneath Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The project is 11.8 km long in total. It will save almost an hour’s worth of travel time by cutting the distance between Thane and Borivali by 12 km.

The Prime Minister officially broke ground on the Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) tunnel project, which is estimated to cost over Rs 6300 crores. Road connectivity between the Eastern Express Highway at Mulund and the Western Express Highway at Goregaon is envisaged by the GMLR. With a total length of about 6.65 km, the GMLR will connect Western suburbs directly to the Pune Mumbai Motorway and the newly proposed airport in Navi Mumbai

The extension of Platforms Nos. 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station and the New Platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus were dedicated to the country by the prime minister. The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus’s new, longer platforms can accept longer trains, allow for more passengers per train, and increase the station’s capacity to manage more traffic. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station’s platforms numbers 10 and 11 have been expanded by 382 meters, and they now have a cover shed and washable apron. It will assist in expanding the trains to accommodate up to 24 coaches, hence improving the capacity to carry passengers.

PM Modi states, “Transformation of Indian Railways benefits Mumbai and Maharashtra in a big way,” bringing up the refurbishment of Nagpur station and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. “Today, new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Station and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus are open to the nation, enabling trains with 24 coaches to operate from there,” he continued.
