Prefab construction gaining prominence
Faster construction and timely delivery not only cuts down the cost of the project, it also adds to the project value and enhances the market credibility of the company.
Positive changes in the construction world
Explaining on how technology is transforming the construction industry Rohan Agarwal, Managing Director, Geopreneur Group said, “Use of various technologies has brought many positive changes in the field of construction industry. Use of these technologies contributes in faster completion of the projects with reduced involvement of unskilled labours at the site. Some of these new technologies also help in causing less or no damage to our environment by using alternate materials like fly ash, crushed stone sand, CPVC, UPVC, etc, in lieu of cement, sand, iron wood or aluminium. Some technologies also help to save the energy during the occupancy of the building and thus make the buildings eco-friendly. New technologies in lighting methods like use of LED fixtures and use of radiation or heat cutting glass for the building façade also contribute to this aspect.”
Prefabricated construction
There are many new technologies which have entered the construction industry and are widely used in the modern days construction works like prefabricated construction, ready mix concrete, material lifting machines, computer aided designs and project planning, mechanical and puzzle parking, remote operated access, high speed elevators, sewage treatment plants, technology-oriented security systems, etc. “Among these, prefabricated construction is becoming very popular and is gaining grounds in the modern construction industry. There are many benefits to adopt this method in the construction field. It reduces the construction time period and makes the work progress faster. It also reduces the material wastage at the site and there is less involvement of unskilled labours for the project. Apart from helping the project to speed up the work progress, it also helps in cost saving for the project,” said Agarwal while explaining about the breakthrough technology.
Omits dependency on unskilled labour
Use of prefabrication construction is viable when a certain amount of volume needs to be constructed for the project and plot is big enough to accommodate temporary plant for fabricating panels. When asked about how this technology is adding value to the business Agarwal says, “Since this type of construction is mostly done with the help of machines and related equipment, dependency on unskilled labours is omitted to a great extent which offers more certainty and the project deadlines are met without any hassle. Faster construction and timely delivery not only cuts down the cost of the project, it also adds to the project value and enhances the market credibility of the company.”
Adopting depends on the scale of the projects
Informing on the adoption of prefabrication technology Agarwal stated that, depending on the scale of the project, this technology is adopted in our suitable projects. This technology makes the work move ahead at a faster pace. Since the precast panels are made off-site, it keeps the site debris-free and the wastage of materials at minimum. Project management and target dates are more realistic and can be achieved easily. Due to different style of construction work happening at the site, it gives a much organised look to work-style and also increases the face value of the company.
