buildingSMART International has announced that Trimble has joined the Strategic Advisory Council (SAC). As an existing member of buildingSMART International, Trimble’s intention to move to the SAC signals commitment to open data standards by enabling a strategic input into the buildingSMART community.
buildingSMART’s SAC is a group of members who meet regularly to develop and execute the core mission and values of the buildingSMART community. This group of organizations help to shape the future of the industry by providing critical guidance, feedback and input in developing the standards and solutions for the built asset industry.
Trimble is developing technology, software and services that drive the digital transformation of construction with solutions that span the entire architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. Empowering teams across the construction lifecycle, Trimble’s innovative approach improves coordination and collaboration between stakeholders, teams, phases and processes. Trimble’s Connected Construction strategy gives users control of their operations with best-in-class solutions and a common data environment. By automating work and transforming workflows, Trimble is enabling construction professionals to improve productivity, quality, transparency, safety, sustainability and deliver each project with confidence.
“Trimble has been a consistent long-term supporter both as an early member and throughout the development of projects. I am delighted that they are stepping up to Strategic Membership. The whole community recognises their leadership qualities and vision, which I acknowledge as being vitally important as technologies and expertise align to transform the built asset industry. This demonstrates the vision that by working together organisations can build a better future for our industry, I fully anticipate that Trimble will play a leading role,” said Richard Petrie, Chief Executive, buildingSMART International.
“Trimble has been a supporter of buildingSMART International across the breadth of their activities, ever since 2004,” said Christopher Keating, Vice President of Trimble Construction’s Design & Engineering Software Group. “The move to become a Strategic Member reflects Trimble’s strong commitment to the digital transformation of the construction industry based on open, international standards. We look forward to continuing our involvement with buildingSMART International in the development and improvement of open standards, jointly working towards a truly connected construction industry.”
