Allcargo Global Logistics was nominated as the complete logistics provider for the aluminium smelter plant project to be commissioned at Jharsuguda, Orissa by VAL India in December 2008. The total volume for phase I of the project carried out was 5500 TEU and 150000 FRT break bulk cargo.
Allcargo Global Logistics functioned as 3PL, providing end-to-end supply chain management for this project. The scope of work involved China based vendors coordination, origin consignment booking, ocean freight transportation by break bulk and container, custom clearance and documentation, in- transit warehousing, on shore transportation from port to site and unloading of cargo at site.
Efficient and complex co-ordination was required in order to smoothly execute the operational aspect of sourcing from multiple suppliers in China and to ensure that freight cost being effectively controlled necessary warehousing of material for consolidation has been accomplished by Allcargo at China. This has helped VAL to control the freight cost during entire transportation of the project. Upon vessel arrival at the Vishakhapatnam port, the containers are either dispatched to project site via rail or road. At the project site, Allcargo’s scope of work involves the transportation of containers within project site to pre-determined contractors where we de-stuff the containers. The empty containers are then returned back to nominated liner yard at the discharge port.
Every element of the 3PL activities were set with stringent timeline KPI and proactive documentation requirement which Allcargo has worked very closely.
Allcargo Global Logistics was able to smoothly execute the project in both an effective as well as efficient manner & based on performance in the year 2009 for phase I, it has been able to secure the service order for the phase II of the project which comprised of 6500 TEU currently under execution.
