82 mines to be brought for auction by end October: Mines Minister

“82 mining blocks have been earmarked for auction and will be announced by end of October,” said Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for steel and mines.
While speaking at the Mining Leaders Roundtable organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in New Delhi the minister said another 96 blocks have been identified at a later stage. The auction would be based on data provided by the Mineral Exploration Corporation to the States, he added.
Tomar shared that he had already visited the mineral-rich states to sensitise on the opportunities for auction.  He also confirmed that the private sector would be brought in as an equal partner into the process once the guidelines and framework have been finalised.
