inpod setting a new standard in turnkey buildings

inpod, a name in popularising modular, portable structures, makes the unrealistic possible—making homes and offices available as consumer products in the construction industry. In an exclusive tête-à-tête with ACE Update, Nilesh Jadhav shares how inpod has made itself a strong contender as a major breakthrough in the construction industry.
inpod is a collection of modular, portable structures created from German technology. Why do you feel that this concept is a major breakthrough?inpod is the first company in India that takes responsibility of the total user experience of a building and brings it to the people as a product which can be purchased by anybody. It’s simple to understand and very easy to use. We believe that it hadn’t been done before in this way until now. That’s the reason for inpod being a major breakthrough. Homes and offices are now available as a consumer product in the construction industry for the first time — completely ready to use.
Can you brief us its exclusive features that make inpod better than traditional structures?Incredible strength, unmatched durability and portability, and freedom from regulations are only some of its exclusive features. Inpod buildings falls are classified as temporary structures and are portable into the portable or temporary class due to the lightweight nature of the materials; and yet are stronger than their RCC counterparts high standard of build quality and finish as they are completely built in a controlled environment. Paint finishes, plug and play nature, least possible installation/assembly time on-site, and absolutely no restraint from geographical location are only some more of these features which make inpod buildings completely unique and unlike any other. Most importantly, inpod structures are fully built in the factory in a controlled environment, hence the build quality and finish that we are able to achieve in each module cannot be compared with any other buildings in its class or even structures made using conventional construction. Most relevant however, is perhaps the long lifespan of over 50 years of inpod buildings because of the technology and materials used in their construction. This gives the user multiple benefits such as reusability and resale value.
Tell us more about “inskin” and how it makes inpod different?Each inpod is four times stronger than its RCC counterparts. They are built inskin which is  a unique composite material specially developed from German methods similar to materials so far used in the creation of luxury yachts and floating homes. It gives the structures all of their unique qualities such as higher tensile strength, hygienic tactile surfaces, crack resistance and extreme robustness. It is extremely strong yet extremely lightweight, so that inpod structures in spite of being portable are actually stronger than structures that use any other construction methods.
What sort of sales and marketing strategies you have adopted to place inpod in the market?We have let the product speak for itself, and just taken it out to the world in the best possible way. inpod won the “most innovative product of the year” at last year’s ACETECH Design Wall across all categories. Eminent names from the architecture and design industries come together to judge this competition with hundreds of participants from all over the industry. That was a big step because now we know that the world sees us as the biggest innovation in the construction industry in recent times. We have a specially constructed display site in Navi Mumbai with live samples displayed which allow customers to experience the products first hand. Looking at the number of enquiries we were getting from the northern parts of the country, we have recently tied up with a dealership set-up in Delhi so that potential customers from there can be serviced well. We are expanding to more regions as more and more people are showing interest every day. inpod is essentially a product that interests everybody, from industries large and small to individuals looking for a second home haven for themselves.
How the market has responded to inpod structures?inpod has had a very enthusiastic response from the market, and people who have experienced our products have instantly fallen in love with them. They actually come up with new ways and ideas of using inpod modules. There has been a very keen interest from across sectors such as manufacturing industry, government and public sector, as well as infrastructure, entertainment and retail to understand the versatility of the modules and how they can be applicable so that they may also enjoy the benefits of our superior quality and functionality. The market has thus taken it to heart and is coming back with important feedback that we are incorporating in our product development.
What’s your take on the present construction industry and how it’s going to be evolved in the coming years?inpod is setting a new standard in turnkey buildings, where it takes responsibility of the entire user experience of the building. From ordering till the time of delivery, the customer does not need to worry about build quality, design and timely delivery, because we take care of all of those aspects without any hassle to the customer. After delivery, inpod offices and homes are completely plug-and-play mode, allowing customers to start enjoying their new properties almost immediately after delivery on-site.
We believe that this trend will catch on in a big way where other developers will incorporate it even using conventional construction methods and deliver a completely finished, ready-to-use product in the shortest time and high level of quality standards will be maintained regardless of the users’ location.
The use of innovative materials, elements, technologies and services in construction to provide seamless lasting value to the customer is also the next big thing that we will see in the coming years. And consumers will in turn make intelligent choices based on the value additions that are available to them even in buying a commodity.
Where do you see inpod in the next 5 years — product wise and business wise?inpod is essentially a product-focussed company, hence we have a definite idea of our 5-year road map. And the products that we will see will be predominantly in the construction industry and the retail industry. We have high hopes for inpod as having huge potential to be a game changer in the retail sector as well as the hospitality sector, and we will keep developing our products to probe in that direction. We see the residential market growing exponentially as inpod is not susceptible to trends, and ups and downs that have plagued the real estate sector. As inpod customers have already purchased the land, we are looking at a large number of people. We will help them to realise their dream for their second home and that’s going to be our primary focus over the next 5 years.
Business wise, we have established ourselves quite well in Maharashtra right now, and our Delhi dealership has just opened for customers from North India. We believe that in 5 years, we will have a major presence across all of India and other parts of the world that are also technology and innovation driven because inpod is a product that travels really well.
