Over ₹19,850 crore worth of development projects in Tamil Nadu will have their foundations laid by PM Modi.

The new terminal building at Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli International Airport will be officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi will leave Tiruchirappalli to commence his tour of South India. In Tamil Nadu, the prime minister will dedicate and inaugurate the country, as well as lay the cornerstone for other development projects valued at over ₹19,850 crore.

PM Modi said that he will be attending programmes in Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Kerala. The programmes will begin at Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, where he will address the convocation ceremony of the Bharathidasan University along with the inauguration of a new terminal building at the airport. At the same time, other development projects will also be launched, which will benefit several people

The PMO statement states that the development of Tiruchirappalli International Airport’s new terminal building came at a cost of more than ₹ 1,100 crore. The airport’s design was influenced by Tiruchirappalli’s vibrant culture, which features various subject artworks and art genres, such as Kollam paintings and the colours of the Srirangam Temple.

Over 44 lakh passengers a year and roughly 3,500 passengers during peak hours can be served by Trichy airport. There are 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, 60 arrival immigration posts and 44 departure emigration counters at the new Trichy Airport terminal building. After Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Tiruchirappalli Foreign Airport is the second-biggest airport in terms of foreign passenger traffic.
