Nitin Gadkari plans new road projects across India
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, made several announcements outlining major advancements in road infrastructure projects meant to improve connectivity, shorten travel times, and spur economic growth in different states. The projects are located in Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.
The building of a 4-lane, 29-kilometer Jaunpur Bypass on the Jaunpur-Akbarpur portion of National Highway 135A in Uttar Pradesh has been approved. The ₹ 1894.76 crore project aims to reduce traffic in the heavily populated city of Jaunpur. Additionally, the Greenfield Bypass will improve connectivity to National Highways 128 A, 731, and 31, resulting in a safer and more efficient traffic flow.
Furthermore, three lanes will be added to the current 2nd Gen Chhapra Bypass portion of National Highway-19 in the Saran district of Bihar. This project, with a budget of ₹ 481.86 crore, is anticipated to guarantee safe and efficient traffic flow, drastically cut down on travel time, and connect to the Purvanchal Motorway with ease, all of which would contribute to the region’s economic growth.
The building of a 4-lane, 6-kilometre Kotdwar Bypass on National Highway-119 in the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand districts of Bijnor and Pauri has received approval. This bypass, which would cost ₹ 691.70 crore, is intended to improve communication with Uttar Pradesh, relieve traffic in Kotdwar, and encourage the growth of tourism by facilitating easier access to holy places like Kedarnath and Badrinath Dhams.
For ₹ 438.34 crore, a 2-lane bypass road with paved shoulders around Giridih town on National Highway-114 has been sanctioned in Jharkhand. The Giridih Bypass, as proposed by Shri Nitin Gadkari, will shorten the time it takes to get from Ranchi to Deoghar, promoting socioeconomic growth in the area.
The current National Highway-205 route in the Himachal Pradesh districts of Solan and Bilaspur is scheduled to be improved to a 4-lane road with painted shoulders for ₹ 1244.43 crore. The route runs from Kalar Bala hamlet to Nauni Chowk. Enhancing connectivity to important locations like Shimla, Kangra, Dharamshala, Mandi, Darlaghat, and AIIMS is anticipated as a result of this strategic road project.
A sanctioned budget of ₹ 718.26 crore has been made available for widening and reinforcing the Daringbadi Ghat stretch of National Highway 59 in Odisha. This highway spans the districts of Kandhamal and Ganjam. The project, which spans 26.96 km, attempts to improve safety standards and ensure all-weather connection by addressing issues caused by a limited lane and inadequate geometry.
These extensive road infrastructure projects demonstrate the government’s dedication to enhancing transport systems, promoting economic expansion, and guaranteeing residents’ safe and effective cross-state travel.
