High adaptability makes steel bars affordable material solution for all types of commercial and industrial products.
TMT stands for thermo mechanically treated. TMT bars have a hard outer surface and a softer core. Their manufacturing process includes hot rolled steel wires passed through water. These specific bars have more yield strength as compared to the mild steel.
The strength, versatility, and affordability of a steel bar makes it one of the most widely used manufacturing or construction materials in the world. Majorly companies offer both hot rolled steel bar and cold rolled steel bar, in a variety of profiles and diameters; and are also available to give the ideal steel bar for specific application.
Steel bar is mostly adaptable to a wide range of applications, making it a cost-effective material solution for all types of commercial and industrial products. Some of the common applications for steel bar include construction and architecture, automotive and transportation, gas and oil, heavy industry, renewable energy, and many more.
“Our product offerings range from high strength fe600, earthquake resistant fe500d to corrosion resistant HCRM grades. As part of upgraded quality, we have phased out fe500 bars and replaced with fe550 as standard,” says Vinod Kothari, Joint Managing Director, Kamachi TMT bars.
Market demand
Kamachi TMT bars cater to critical infrastructure like MES, METROS, NHAI & EIL, and foresee strong demand from central infra projects. The company has also supplied material to Gujarat, Mumbai and even Odisha for specific projects. As part of vertical expansion, they have greatly expanded retail systems across six southern states anticipating strong demand in tier-2 and tier-3 areas.
Major Challenge
The major challenge of using steel bars in construction projects is ascertaining quality which the company faces in construction projects. The general view is that all ISI brands of any particular grade offer the same quality. The general market is unaware of the role of quality manufacturing infrastructure, QMS systems and patented technologies in the finish quality of bar. For instance, only 100 per cent automation can ensure consistent quality across the entire length of the bar and the entire order lot.
Apart from this, choosing right steel for the right place is critical.
“We encourage customers, engineers and colleges to visit our factory to attend our ‘know your steel’ programme in order to know more about in-depth manufacturing technologies and their impact on quality,” adds Kothari.
