Dalmia opens new cement plant in Tamil Nadu

Dalmia Bharat Limited (DBL), a prominent Indian cement company, has announced the installation of a new cement mill at its current cement-producing facility in Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu.

This new plant adds 1.0 million tonnes of cement capacity to the company’s total installed capacity, which now stands at 45.6 million tonnes, including subsidiaries. With an investment of Rs.204 crores, this strategic brownfield development aims to increase its market presence in the South and address the region’s growing cement demand. This development is in line with the company’s long-term growth strategy, which aims to increase total installed capacity to 110-130 MT by 2031.

Commenting on the company’s expansion plans, Puneet Dalmia, Managing Director & CEO, of Dalmia Bharat Limited, says, “We continue to focus on strategic capital expenditure, maximising the region’s growth prospects and further enhancing our market position in the South. Driven by robust infrastructure development, housing and investments, we anticipate cement demand to rise. This increased capacity will facilitate the growing demand in the Southern region.”

Dalmia Bharat has a strong presence in the Tamil Nadu market, operating two integrated cement manufacturing units in Dalmiapuram and Ariyalur, as well as a grinding unit in Sattur. The organisation is also a crucial contributor to the south’s greatest infrastructure effort, Bharatmala, which helps to advance vital transport networks and supports regional development. It has also provided speciality cement for airport infrastructure projects in Calicut and Chennai. The company has long-standing ties to the region, dating back to the construction of its first cement plant at Dalmiapuram, which laid the groundwork for its industry presence.
