Gainwell strives to take India’s infrastructure forward
Can you provide an overview of your latest equipment technology and how it stands out in the industry?
Gainwell is one of the oldest dealers of Caterpillar across the world, with a presence spanning over eight decades in the country. We serve as the exclusive representative for Caterpillar products in the Northern and eastern regions of India, Nepal, and Bhutan. Our expertise lies in providing comprehensive solutions for the construction equipment industry, offering a wide range of Caterpillar machinery, from mini excavators to super large excavators and hydraulic mining shovels. We offer Equipment for road construction and are a prominent player in the motor grader market. Additionally, we cater to dozers and backhoe loaders for construction projects and have the popular Hindustan 2021 Wheel Loader under the Caterpillar brand. Furthermore, our SEM range includes loaders with a capacity of five to seven tons, motograders and dozers.
What specific advancements or innovations has Gainwell recently introduced in its equipment technology range?
The technology advancements today are at several levels. When it comes to construction equipment, they are becoming more intelligent. We have smart machines now that have hundreds of sensors that tell precisely what the health of the machine is, the operational parameters and diagnostics to check for any problems. IoT makes the equipment very efficient from a productivity and life cycle cost perspective. The cost of operation for the customer can be optimised, reducing unplanned downtime. The other area of advancement is “Machine control guidance”. The Machine control system utilises GPS location to create a digital design and accurately implement it on the ground. With Trimble onboard controllers, machines operate with speed and accuracy, resulting in significant time and fuel savings. Another aspect of advancement is sustainability, particularly as the world is looking at clean energy transition. Caterpillar engines offer biodiesel capability. Further, Caterpillar offers environmentally friendly gas diesel gensets.
What role does technology adoption play in addressing challenges and promoting sustainability in infrastructure programs in India?
Embracing technological advancements not only promotes sustainability and safety but also ensures the efficient utilisation of public funds for infrastructure projects. This, in turn, accelerates India’s progress in creating Infrastructure at a faster pace. Another key challenge is skilled operators with the necessary expertise to operate machinery proficiently. As part of our corporate social responsibility efforts, we have implemented a specialised training program focused on enhancing skills for operating Backhoe Loaders and Hydraulic Excavators.
Considering technological advancements such as IoT and automation, how is your organisation incorporating these innovations to enhance the efficiency and performance of your equipment?
Through the implementation of IoT technology, we are able to effectively monitor and analyse the performance of our machines in our EM ( Equipment Monitoring) centre. One of the key benefits of IoT is the transparency it provides to our customers, allowing them to track the operational hours of their machines. To further enhance our customer’s experience we have implemented extensive digitalisation of our interactions with our customers. Through the introduction of our service app, E Serve, customers can easily reach out to us for a service request. We have also invested in another app – “Vanijya” for customers to order and buy parts on-line.
Again, if we look at the Machine Control technology, by leveraging digital design techniques to create intricate 3D models on computer systems and seamlessly transferring these designs to machines equipped with automated control capabilities, we are able to significantly improve efficiency and speed in our construction processes. This seamless transition from digital design to machine operation facilitates a more streamlined workflow, ultimately leading to quicker project completion and increased productivity levels.
Can you discuss any upcoming developments or future directions for Gainwell’s range of equipment?
Our next endeavour is towards road maintenance equipment, specifically focusing on micro-surfacing techniques to ensure the creation of smooth and pothole-free roads. We have recently partnered with Etnyre International of U. S to bring this technology to India. We intend to manufacture these products in India for sale in India and also support select geographies across the world.
