Following masterplan changes, the Patna civic body’s 30 parking lots will be converted into smart parking facilities. The idea, which is part of the smart parking management system, was adopted at the Patna Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) 25th board meeting on Saturday.
The company was chosen after the bidding procedure, according to Mayor Sita Sahu, and construction will begin in the coming days. By the end of March, the smart parking lots will be mostly ready, and they will go live in April.
She stated that the technology-driven smart parking system will include parking instructions, real-time information on parking spot availability via a smartphone app, and online payment options.
Boom barriers with radio-frequency identification (RFID) sensors for controlling vehicle entry and leave, automated pay stations, smart ticketing system, and closed-circuit television cameras for collecting vehicle model and number will be installed in the smart carparks.
Residents who download the ‘Swachhata’ app on their phones will be able to park for free. The unique campaign aims to inspire citizens to take part in the Swachh Survekshan 2022 by providing feedback on the app. The citizen’s voice received 1,800 points in the survey.
The proposal to use the ‘Miyawaki technique,’ which compresses layers of trees, forest plants, and canopies on small land parcels to make them into miniature forests, was also authorised.
