PEBS Pennar is planning to expand its production capacity by setting up another manufacturing facility in Gujarat or Rajasthan to meet the requirement of the North India
Pennar Engineered Building Systems Ltd. (PEBS Pennar), an ISO 9001:2008 certified company, is into design, manufacture, supply, and installation of cost-effective pre-engineered steel buildings and building components.
PEBS Pennar has been on the forefront of technological innovation, setting the benchmark for others to emulate in the area of pre-engineered building systems. Strict adherence to the highest quality standards, coupled with characteristics such as design distinction, international expertise, and innovation have made the company the preferred choice of a range of clientele.
For the past 10-12 years, globally the major focus is on India and China, the emerging super powers of the world. Any sector, whether it is manufacturing, logistics, energy, infrastructure, commercial and metro rail, is growing at a greater pace and all these sectors require high performance, economical and faster delivery steel buildings to run their operations. There is significant acceptability for PEBs in India and majority of consultants, architects, institutional customers etc. are widely promoting PEBs in view of significant advantages compared to conventional buildings.
The growth of PEB industry in India is directly linked to the economic situation. PEB concept was introduced in India in 2000, and there has been significant growth thereafter. Phenomenal economic growth rates over the past decade and its relatively unscathed emergence from the global financial crisis in 2008 led many to believe that the growth rates will be similar. However, over the last 1 year or so, an unhealthy economic and political environment has resulted in a screeching halt in decision making. This has delayed the implementation of reforms for spurring growth. Obviously slower growth will adversely affect the PEB industry also. Retail chains are another high-potential business opportunity for PEB companies. With the nod in the Parliament for FDIs, there is significant potential for PEBs for retail chains and distribution centres. Also, in the current scenario pre-engineered building occupies only 10-15 per cent of the total industrial construction currently going on in the country, as compared to 95 per cent in countries of the western world. In India, we expect the growth rate of 20-25 per cent on year-on-year basis in the PEB segment.
To mention about the other challenges faced by the industry, there is huge shortage of skilled workers like masons, carpenters, rod benders etc. in India now. As against the requirement of 4.25 crore skilled workers for civil construction, the company have only 2.75 crore as of now. Hence, many major projects are getting delayed in India. In view of shortage of skilled manpower, the most preferred alternative to concrete construction is obviously PEBs.
The Indian transportation and logistics market witnesses new heights; there has been increasing buzz around technology adoption, network optimisation, multi-modal transportation and improving warehousing. The latter in particular has been evolving rapidly from traditional godowns to modern facilities.
As the construction sector continues its long slump, PEBS Pennar continues its growth on specialising in leading edge technology projects that demand a high skill and teamwork to mitigate risk. Concentrating on the industries which are making a tremendous growth in the recent years is one of the major key for its endurance. PEBS Pennar is planning to enter in to strategic partnership agreements with some warehousing companies and construct the warehouses in various parts of India for leading multinational companies. The company also wishes to enter into design and supply of racking systems for warehouses.
PEBS Pennar with its innovative business process cycle has positioned itself at the top in the market. Introduction of novice concept like Order Management Department (OMD) has added to the success of the organisation. The OMD ensures that the customer queries and suggestions are promptly responded. In addition, teams like sales which are spread all over the country, design and detailing department with 80 efficient engineers, thorough manufacturing crew, group of certified builders who assist in the erection of buildings contributes for holding the sustainability of company.Double-lok roofing system is one of the USP of PEBS Pennar. This roofing system is being offered in technical association with NCI-USA. It has built a track record of being the most reliable leak-proof roofing system globally. The system comes with leak-proof warranty of 10 years. With its assured weather tight advantages, this system is better suited for India. Regarding the benefits of the system, it reduces risk of leakages from roof, facilitates thermal expansion and contraction of the panel without any damage. It is tested for wind uplift, fire and hail damage, offers simplicity, flexibility and durability, and comes with pre-punched panels and components.
The demand for PEB is on the rise, and PEBS Pennar is planning to expand its production capacity (currently 90,000 tonnes) by setting up another manufacturing facility in Gujarat or Rajasthan to meet the requirement of the North India. The plans are in the advanced stage and will be executed this year. The company reached a turnover of ` 330 crore this year and poised to achieve ` 500 crore by 2014.
