Schwing Stetter installs 1MW solar power system in Tamil Nadu
One of the country’s leading construction and concreting equipment manufacturers, Schwing Stetter India, has currently installed a 1 MW solar power system in their global manufacturing hub in Cheyyar. Chairman & Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India, V.G. Sakthikumar, inaugurated the facility.
The goal of the company is to make the facility carbon neutral while generating 14 lakh kWh of electricity and fulfilling 20 percent of its total annual power needs through this mode of energy production. This endeavour reflects Schwing’s commitment to sustainability, with the Schwing Global manufacturing hub having an enormous potential to manufacture 14,000 machines annually. It also contributes to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s plan by doubling the annual solar capacity by the end of 2026.
Commenting on Schwing’s commitment towards sustainability and energy conservation measures, V.G. Sakthikumar, Chairman & Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India, says, “Our operations are fuelled by a sense of obligation towards the environment and the government’s green energy goals. Schwing has reaffirmed its dedication to sustainability with green initiatives by building a renewable energy infrastructure onsite and by committing to further expand their reliance on green energy to power their operations. Our initiatives are majorly focused on carbon neutrality, energy transition, circularity, and eco-friendly operations.”
The company has planted 2,50,000 saplings across the country to celebrate Schwing’s 25th anniversary and to promote carbon neutrality last year.
