Sleek Boards offers high performance alternative to industrial laminates

The multi-product Sleek Boards has introduced to Indian market a high cutting edge High Performance Wood-based and composite product for a wide variety of application across a range of industry sectors.
 
All Sleek Boards products and developments are hi-tech solutions providing products that offer users both additional application scope and excellent performance. Inherent in the development of such products is to offer the user additional value as well.
 
One of the latest of these is an extremely cost effective alternative to solid laminate used in so many public usage and contract situations. The FINSA product is called DM. COMPAQ 1100 and is essentially technically very high grade high density fiberboard (HDF) bonded with moisture resistant synthetic resin.
 
Sleek Boards’ Managing Director Nitin Vaze explains, “At the top end of the application scale for solid grade industrial laminate, probably around 30 per cent, there is no alternative (like specification that calls for specific chemical resistance), but for the remaining approximately 70 per cent DM. COMPAQ 1100 fully viable alternative in all respects at between 35 per cent and 40 per cent less cost”.
 
DM. COMPAQ 1100 presents excellent performance characteristics: It has a high density (more than 1000 kg/m) as well as tensile strength, bending strength, elasticity and high impact resistance. It is well suited to environments of persistent high humidity.
 
Therefore DM. COMPAQ 1100 covers a great variety of existing and future applications that include educational furniture, public area toilet cubicles, locker room furniture, hospital and laboratory furniture, hotel and leisure area furniture and paneling, wall cladding and work surfaces etc.
 
This existing new FINSA material comes in thicknesses between 8 – 13mm and a variety of color tones and patterns. DM. COMPAQ 1100 can also be covered with different surfacing and edging materials. It machines as easily as other wood-based composites and, says Vaze, has another advantage in that it is not nearly abrasive as solid grade laminate so extends the tool life on fabricating machines.
