Leela Palace Jaipur embraces Rajput and Mughal heritage
Against the majestic mountains of the Aravallis, the Leela Palace Jaipur offers a peaceful haven with classic passive cooling and magnificent decor, fusing Mughal and Rajput grandeur with contemporary luxury.
Nestled against the gorgeous Aravallis, the Leela Palace hotel is intended to be a tranquil haven away from the hustle and bustle of Jaipur city. Owing to its elaborate architecture, which features fountains, pavilions, classic chhatris, silver domes, and ornatejaal, the city of Maharajas is honoured along with its centuries-old Rajput and Mughal legacy. Inspired by an old-world charm reminiscent of the royal lifestyle of bygone eras, the design celebrates the spirit of the region along with the distinctive Leela service while being distinctly modern in its execution.
Handling the severe, hot, and dry climate of Jaipur was one of the main architectural problems. The introduction of traditional passive cooling techniques like jaalis and shaded landscaped courtyards brimming with flora allowed for efficient airflow and preservation of thermal comfort throughout the spaces.
The palace building, built in the middle of the project, serves as its focal point and houses several important public spaces, such as a bar, speciality restaurant, banquet hall and pre-function area. Luxurious villas and a sizable party lawn that can accommodate up to 700 people surround the palace block. The walled city of Jaipur’s design principles serves as an influence for the courtyard planning, which creates the ideal balance between the built and open spaces.
The arrival plaza serves as the entrance for guests, that are then led through an exquisitely carved arched colonnade into the opulent villas. Nestled around a spacious communal pool that serves as the focal point and divides the area into public and private areas are sun loungers, intimate private pools, and peaceful alcoves.
The basic principles of balance, proportion, rhythm, emphasis, and unity characterise the imposing white marble exterior. The front is lined with chhatris, arches, and jharokhas, and the home has a magnificent appeal thanks to a blue and gold colour scheme. Throughout the property, floral and geometric themes are incorporated into a variety of surfaces, such as murals, spandrels, doors, and chhatris and fountains. Eleven acres of lush flora and these design interventions elevate the experience of luxury hospitality.
