Certificate program in facilities management
International property consulting firm JLL India announced introduction of certificate programs in facilities management with collaboration of Manpower Group and EMPI Business School. The initiative is aimed at meeting the need for a formal academic approach to empowering aspirant candidates for a career in Facilities Management (FM), which is one of the fastest-growing real estate services verticals in India today.
These co-created training and certification modules will be delivered by combining classroom learnings with live apprenticeships in leading corporates. The three Firms will jointly develop and deploy a rigorous education and placement program for aspiring FM talent.
With Indian real estate advancing towards increasing corporatisation, there has been an increased demand for industry-ready FM professionals. However, this domain has so far relied heavily on unstructured ‘learn-on-the-job’ apprenticeships, without the assurance of governance or quality-imparting institutions.
The new certification program will address this gap and impart pertinent industry knowledge through a mix of both formal academic instructions and intensive practical applications. This program, essentially a guided apprenticed program role-played in a live workspace eco-system, will initially be launched in Delhi and Bengaluru.
Sandeep Sethi, Managing Director – Integrated Facilities Management, JLL West Asia, is confident that this project will be a key differentiator for the FM talent landscape. He says, “This unique co-creation between industry and academia is directly aligned to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Skill India to leverage India’s potential demographic dividend. It is also in line with JLL’s corporate citizenship and sustainability mission of triple bottom-line contribution towards people, planet and profit.”
JLL is one of India’s major integrated facilities management services providers, with 90 million sq. ft. under management for leading corporate occupiers and industry campuses. The firm will provide vital inputs to the curriculum, comprising of four months of classroom training and two months on-job internship. “Manpower Group will collaborate to ensure placements and job opportunities for the graduates, whose academic interventions will be conducted at the various EMPI campuses,” a statement said.
