Gigaplex building 2: step towards greener India

Gigaplex building 2 is part of an IT complex being developed by K Raheja Corp in Navi Mumbai and has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) India Gold rating. The project has adopted Green Building Standards of USGBC “LEED 2011 for India Core and Shell” rating to meet the global benchmark.

K Raheja Corp group has integrated social, environmental and ethical principles in its core offerings and it continues to strive for more opportunities in promoting sustainability. The company’s Green Visionis a commitment towards making all their commercial and residential projects green certified, following all the sustainable practices to achieve the highest rating. Initiatives have been taken by the company to increase awareness and optimise green developments under the green rating programs.

PEC Greening India, the green building consultant and service provider in India for green buildings, smart cities, green townships and solar energy was appointed as the consultant for Gigaplex Building 2.

The project has been designed and developed keeping the long-term environmental sustainability and self-reliant business environment to be the top most priority. The Green Building Certification Inc. (GBCI) has awarded the company a total of 60 points under LEED India Core and Shell. The report is determined by the following categories that include sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy & atmosphere, material & resources, indoor environmental quality and innovation & design process as defined by LEED.

The salient green building features comprise of sustainable design approach, optimised building envelope, high-performance glazing and air conditioning. Low-flow water fixtures and rain water harvesting, wastewater recycling and reuse, 100 per cent LED lighting and energy efficient electrical equipment, sustainable waste management practices 3R, green housing keeping and improved indoor environmental quality, integrated building management system.

K Raheja Corp properties has been taking several measures to implement the same in all its residential and commercial projects and been the recipient of several key LEED and IGBC certifications in the past for their dedicated efforts in supporting the environmental conservation cause.
