All Putzmeister equipment is characterised by higher productivity, durability, efficiency and long service life, says Wilfried Theissen, Managing Director, Putzmeister India.

Kindly tell us about Putzmeister’s involvement in the construction and development of metro stations pan India? How do Putzmeister machines aid in the rapid construction of mega projects like the metro?
Putzmeister concrete pumps, particularly our Truck mounted boom pumps have worked on most of the metro projects across India. All Putzmeister equipment is characterised by higher productivity, durability, efficiency and long service life.

Not only do Putzmeister Truck mounted boom pumps offer customers all these benefits, but they are also really well suited to working on metros that are typically constructed within tight inner-city conditions. The 4 arm Z-fold on the BSF 36-4 and the 5 arm RZ-fold on the BSF 42-5 offer unmatched flexibility in the smallest of spaces. The incredibly direct response characteristics of the boom mean it reaches the right working position quickly and easily. The optional OSS (One Sided Support) makes it easy to set up the boom on busy roads.

Our team has rich experience in helping customers overcome the challenges involved in metro projects. The right equipment backed up by the right experience makes Putzmeister Truck mounted boom pumps the right choice for metro projects in India.

Even in the lockdown government-sponsored infra projects were being executed, how has it helped you to manage sales in such crucial times?
Concrete equipment sales had started normalising and had reached 2019 levels in the first quarter of CY 2021. However, with Covid-19 numbers spiralling to record highs and the inevitable local lockdowns to curb the spread we expect even government projects to be impacted for a temporary duration. The reverse migration of workers is only going to add to the woes of those trying to run job sites in these challenging times.

Now that manufacturing units have been allowed to function even in the lockdown scenario, how will this strategy help maintain a conducive business climate especially for the construction and infrastructure sector in India?
While currently manufacturing units have been allowed to function, challenges remain. There is every possibility that a more complete lockdown will have to be imposed given the surge in cases. That said, we remain optimistic and are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our employees, partners, and customers. While we anticipate a slowdown in the near term, we are confident that activity will bounce back up once India can reign in Covid-19 numbers.
