Tata Projects, Brookfield Multiplex partner for developing urban infrastructure in India

Commit to bring world-class buildings construction technology
Infrastructure major Tata Projects announced a strategic partnership with global construction company Brookfield Multiplex to deliver a range of commercial, retail, residential, healthcare, tourism and leisure projects across India.
Brookfield Multiplex, a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management, has executed over 900 projects worth US $ 61 billion across Australia, Middle East and Asia, Europe and Canada. Whereas Tata Projects, with a current order book of over Rs. 14,000 crores, is one of the leading infrastructure construction players in India.
It has secured fresh orders in 2014-15 worth about Rs. 8,000 crores. Tata Projects has entered urban infrastructure market in 2014-15 and has secured business worth about Rs. 2,000 crores in the first year of commencement, informs Vinayak Deshpande, Managing Director of Tata Projects.For the year ended 2014-15, Tata Projects has secured about Rs. 8,000 crores worth of new orders in 2014-15. It has secured L1 position for about Rs. 3,150 crores worth contracts. The total order book stands at about Rs. 14,000 crores.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr Deshpande said, “We are delighted to work with Brookfield Multiplex to execute large urban building projects, using world-class construction practices and efficient work systems. Our existing construction domain shall see a quantum shift especially in the way we construct ‘high rise’ buildings in faster time span.”
Tata Projects is into engineering, procurement and construction and offers turnkey end to end solutions to set up fully integrated rail and metro systems, commercial buildings, airports, water and wastewater management solutions, complete mining and metal purification systems, power generation plants and power transmission and distribution systems.
“Tata Projects and Brookfield Multiplex are committed to introduce global construction expertise to the Indian market, based on Brookfield’s significant experience gained in delivering complex and high-rise buildings across Australasia, the Middle East, Europe and Canada,” said Brookfield Multiplex Australasia CEO John Flecker.
“Tata Projects shall execute the projects in India leveraging its expertise, organisational strength and its commitment to ‘On-time delivery’ partnership promises state-of-the-art construction technology, world-class design capability, safe and high speed construction delivery to complete projects on or before time,” a statement issued by the company said.
“Brookfied Multiplex is excited to form a strategic partnership with Tata Projects, the two companies share many synergies far a positive long term association. W e are committed to introducing world-class sustainable working practices to the Indian building construction market,” said Glenn Raphael, Brookfield Multiplex Managing Director, India.
The company will initially focus on contracts from the private sector and in select metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata. “We are currently delivering three projects with a combined value of US $ 260 million including phase 2 of the Tata Medical Centre in Kolkata; the Mantri Serenity residential towers in Bengaluru; and the Candor Office Parks Project in NCR,” Mr Raphael said.
