ECE gained momentum

“The growth in the Earthmoving and Construction Equipment sector (ECE) is largely dependent on the growth of the infrastructure sector, which has gained momentum in the past one year. These are primarily because of government’s investments in the infrastructure sector, strategic budget allocation in last three consecutive budgets and a number of projects getting announced are promising for the sector,” says Jasmeet Singh, Head Corporate Communications and External Relations, JCB India Ltd while sharing his views on the recent performance of construction equipment industry in India.

Roads and highways sector has been one of major demand drivers for the ECE industry. Other sectors such as railways, airports, inland waterways etc, are also integral in driving the growth. JCB India thinks more needs to be done in these sectors to ensure sustainable growth. Irrigation, real estate and mining are few other sectors that have to start progressing to make the demand sustainable.

He adds, “The recent announcement of the construction of 83,667 kilometres of highways under the Bharatmala project and recapitalisation of banks through record capital infusion of Rs 2.11 lakh crore over two years will give a boost to the economy.”

JCB’s promising technologies for the future

JCB always keep customers at the heart of every initiative. All its products and services are designed, engineered and manufactured to address customer needs. Today’s customer is not just looking for a product; he/she is looking for a complete product solution. “We manufacture products to One Global Quality which means products manufactured in India can be used in any part of the world,” asserts Jasmeet.

Presently, the company offer a world-class range of intelligent and innovative machines ranging from the compact range such as mini excavator, skid steer loader to mid-range machines such as backhoe loaders, telehandlers, super loaders to larger excavators, compactors and wheel loaders. All these products have been designed and engineered to cater to the changing needs and increasing demand across different segments.

Jasmeet claims, “Our Backhoe Loaders continue to remain the preferred choice for buyers.” JCB has also diversified its product range and introduced revolutionary products in the material handling range and excavators, wheeled loaders and compactors which form the premier line range.

With the new offerings, JCB has positioned itself as a full range infrastructure equipment partner. These made in India products are not just sold in India but have also been exported to over 85 countries. All these products are aimed at maximising productivity and profitability for its customers. These machines will be used in several sectors like roads and highways, mining, ports, irrigation projects etc, and will contribute towards building of India’s infrastructure.

JCB has invested in the technology and introduced the state-of-the-art telematics technology called JCB Livelink, which helps customers remotely monitor and manage their machines. Users, dealers and JCB get SMS alerts on their phones regarding the service, operations and security of their machine. This data is stored over a period of time and gives vital information to the customer in terms of number of hours the machine has been operational, service intervals, fuel levels, malfunctions if any, etc.

According to Jasmeet, Livelink has significantly helped in better fleet management of JCB products for its customers. It has also resulted in its product support network being able to provide world class support through preventive maintenance. “JCB India is the first manufacturer in the ECE industry to introduce Internet of Things at this scale. Today, over 60,000 Livelink enabled JCB machines are successfully working in India,” Jasmeet concludes.
