Increasing uptime of concrete equipment
Planned maintenance is very beneficial for increasing equipment uptime to its optimum level as well as the cost impact.
The current momentum on infrastructure projects has spurred activity in off-take concrete equipment like batching plants, truck mixers and concrete pumps.
Prospects for the growth of concrete equipment in India over the next few years are looking up. On the back of thrust on urban development, infrastructure projects in power, road, ports, railways, irrigation and also the emergence of activities in the tier-II and III cities. Additionally, rural development and mechanisation is aiding concrete equipment industry and requirement for smaller capacity batching plants and concrete pumps are on upsurge.
With real estate sector now shoring up demand for concrete products are witnessing upswing. For the segment, market has opened up due to increased government spending on infrastructure projects. Equipment finance players are also open to fund projects as against the previous years.
The construction equipment (CE) market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.8 per cent during FY18-FY24 in India, on account of the country’s expanding construction industry. Current concrete construction equipment segment is to grow at a CAGR of 25 per cent, according to industry data.
Equipment uptime
V.G. Sakthikumar, Managing Director, Schwing Stetter Sales and Services Pvt Ltd says, “Well targeted planning can maximise equipment uptime rates to the benefit of companies when compared to emergency downtime.”
Systems like SchwingIoT Ready, SchwingIoTIn and SchwingIoT able in Supersix transit mixers offer scheduled proactive maintenance check inputs.
Roljack Asia Ltd is available with a strong dedicated team of innovators, designers, production engineers, service, sales as well as marketing and they act on customer to customer basis, resulting best solution for the future needs of upcoming market.
Ashok Kumar Malan, Vice President (Operation), Roljack Asia Ltd says, “We analyse the market or customer’s demand for the type of product, in turn increase of present market in the field of concrete mixing technology and further resulting development of new model of equipment and offering new technology to the upcoming market.”
Productivity of an equipment and return on investment depend on how it is being utilised, its operator’s skill and also on the periodic and preventive maintenance. Regular training enhances the skill level of the operator which enables better equipment uptime. OEM service network and availability or reach of the aftermarket crew always helps with a better response time and timely redressal of problems.
Ratan Lal Kashyap, Sr. Vice President –Procurement, G R Infraprojects Ltd says, “Self-diagnostic system in the controls of the plant helps in live update on productivity, alerts on faults. Remote access platform in the controls helps resolve software problems and helps for accurate diagnosis of the problems.”

The new innovations by the company are aimed at both maximising efficiency and boosting customer profitability.
With the addition of new batching plant MT – 0.5, Putzmeister offers the widest range of mixing options to customers. The plant with a capacity of 30 m3/hr comes equipped with a robust twin-shaft mixer and inclined belt.
In 2019, the company will introduce advanced fleet management technology to its range of stationary concrete pumps and truck-mounted boom pumps. The new launch was aimed at doing machine plastering in very less amount of time with efficiency, helping customers meet project completion timelines.
Additionally, Ajax Fiori planetary mixers are designed to perform high mixing performance for all challenging applications and mostly preferred for producing precast concrete products. They provide the highest homogeneous mixture even in shorter mixing time. The mixers provide high mixing performance even for challenging concrete applications, high mixture homogeneity in shorter mixing time, low maintenance cost, low power consumption, easy maintenance due to wide maintenance gates and bolted type replaceable linings.
All contractors try to maximise or optimise production out of the fleet. The company has increased machine capacity and also telematics fitted into it that comes across with next generation range of self-loading concrete mixers. Besides, power cost for batching plant with a planetary mixer is being optimised. The company is trying to optimise maximum concrete output.
According to Debasis Bhattacharya, Head – Sales & Marketing, Ajax Fiori Engineering India Pvt Ltd, “By putting self-loading concrete mixer, we have saved labour cost; the number of people required to run this machine is less. These machines are mobile and move from one site to the other. If a particular project gets completed in a couple of years, today, the completion is within six months.”
KYB Conmat is exhibiting full range of batching plant right from 20 cu.m mobile batching plant to 40 cu.m tower plant at bC India 2018. Tower plant is the most important product; as there is lot of pollution problem and government is taking lot of steps to remove batching plant from the city environment and to move it outside. Thus, the company has developed this plant especially for city and it can be installed in a very small footprint like 9m-9m. Everything is enclosed such as the concrete transportation and aggregates transportation. So, it’s a dust-free installation and operation. There are two advantages – one is small requirement of space and second is eco-friendliness. These are two important hallmarks of this product. Since it is a direct loading and direct pouring batching plant, it consumes very low power as compared to traditional plants.
Additionally, KYB Conmat has launched compact mobile plant for transit mixer loading application. It is just 9m-2m loading plant and one doesn’t require a ramp for loading. The company have also launched a fully mobile plant with belt conveyor. It can be transported very easily from one site to other site and the setting-up time is hardly half a day and one doesn’t require a foundation.
