Hikoki deepens focus on highly innovative technology

How are you working towards the rising demand for power tools with the increasing infrastructure development in the country?
Introduction of new products is a constant initiative for us for more than two decades in India. We fully understand the rising demand for power tools in the domestic market, in view of more focus for infrastructure and also modernisation. In order to cater to the requirement of the domestic market, we have introduced many new products during the last several years, in particular during the last five years. We have also doubled our manufacturing capacity during the last two years, in our Bangalore plant.

How are you investing in R&D for energy-efficient and environment-friendly power tools?
Our company’s success rests upon three core pillars – highly innovative technology, high reliability and strong business growth. The first of these pillars – highly innovative technology – is the foundation which inspires us in everything we create and deliver for our customers. Our R&D centre is at Tokyo Japan and our parent company is spending about 3 per cent of our net global sales in developing tools with latest cutting-edge technology.

How are power tools in line with the required safety requirements?
We have a reputation of introducing innovative products to the power tools industry. In India we market Power Tools in ‘Hikoki’ and metabo Brand. We offer technically advanced products of highest quality and with all enhanced safety features. All our tools come with double insulation.

We have also incorporated special safety features like mechanical safety clutch, brake technology and auto balancing, non-locking paddle switch and restart protection. We also supply tools with 110 Volts based on the requirement of the customers.

How is the market developing more energy efficient and user friendly power tools?
The Hikoki unique ergonomic design power Tools with soft grip and anti-vibration systems (UVP) makes the tools very user friendly. We have introduced tools with Multi Volt platform which can be overwhelmingly differentiated by its power, durability, and precision, with the added value of being cordless. The Multi Volt platform offers flexibility of auto switching to 36 V and 18 V as per the requirement. Multi volt intelligent system significantly reduces heat and stress on tool components making it more efficient.
We have introduced AC brushless technology tools which can be easily classified as tools with next generation technology or power tools for future generation and most energy efficient tools. AC brushless tools have helped us to establish technological superiority in the industry.

We are also selling metabo brand tools for the niche and upper segment market and special applications. In metabo, we have introduced heavy-duty tools with Marathon motors and cordless tool driven by powerful Li-Ion heavy-duty battery which is more powerful and last longer.

What are the latest technological developments in your product portfolio?
Our latest cutting-edge technological offering to the power tools industry is Multi Volt, a powerful 36-volt Li-Ion battery platform offers the most advanced state of the art battery technology. Multi Volt systems deliver the next generation of high-powered cordless power tools using high output Lithium Cells and fitted with smart auto switching between 36 V high powered cordless tools as well as powering the existing 18 V gear. The Multi Volt series is characterised by being a compact and light cordless tool that has power equivalent to AC products.

The company is spending about 3 per cent of its net global sales in R&D for developing tools with latest cutting-edge technology.
