India is set to make history with its first-ever bullet train project, which will travel underwater for a staggering 21 kilometres. This ambitious project, known as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) or the “Bullet Train,” is a joint venture between the Indian and Japanese governments. The underwater stretch of the bullet train will be located in the Thane Creek, which lies between Mumbai and the western state of Gujarat.
