Being one of the global major companies, how do you see the Indian market in near future?Liugong India, a global leader in manufacturing of construction equipment, is gearing up to escalate the future of Indian construction industry with its ultramodern and global quality product range. The company is all set to focus on Indian market. With such a fast growing economy and the increasing need for world-class infrastructure, we anticipate a lot of growth potential. Our government has also allocated a large amount of money for the betterment of the road network which includes constructing new roads and widening existing roads,  expressways, bridges etc.
Brief us about the products of your company.Since the start of Indian operations in 2002, Liugong India has been relentlessly working toward providing advance technologies at customer’s door step and that too at an affordable price, coupled with world-class after-sales support. We are allocating a good portion of resources in developing “value for money” products for our customers. Liugong is focused on its mission of delivering products that are reliable and cost-effective. We are also producing equipment that improve its customers’ return on invested capital. Liugong offers a wide range of excavators ranging from 6 tonnes to 45 tonnes, wheel loaders from 1 tonne to 8 tonnes, and well-proven motor graders, i.e CLG414BSIII and CLG418.
What are the R&D initatives taken by your company?Liugong has been committed to producing new technology that is appropriate to customers’ needs. Throughout the business cycle, Liugong consistently dedicated substantial sums to research and development. New technology doesn’t have to mean complex systems; sometimes the best ideas are the simplest. We keep an open mind when it comes to produce new products and services.
What is the market size you are looking at?Liugong is committed to achieving long-term market leadership in India. We will continue to explore and develop products that will meet Indian market requirements and leverage regional and global product strategies to allow synergies with our Indian strategies.
What are the major challenges faced by construction equipment industry? Everywhere, the construction industry faces problems and challenges. However, in developing countries like India, these difficulties and challenges are present along with a general situation of socio-economic stress, chronic resource shortages, institutional weaknesses and a general inability to deal with key issues.There is also evidence that the problems have become greater in extent and severity in recent years. Delay in infrastructure projects because of time and cost overruns is one of them. Shortage of funds, environmental concerns and delay in government clearances added to this. Project delays have been caused due to land acquisition challenges, causing major investment deferrals by companies. There is also a lack of structured regulatory and policy framework for PPP models which needs to be addressed.

What steps have you taken to reduce it?The emission standards have been phasing in over a number of years, gradually reducing the legal levels of emissions for various sizes of diesel engines. Liugong has taken the major step with the BSIII engine. Liugong offers a package that produces maximised fuel efficiency while enhancing the productivity and operating efficiency solutions. Liugong respects environment and designs all its products in a way that helps maximise the green quotient.
