Prism RMC setting high-performance standards

Prism RMC is committed to environmental protection and pollution prevention inside its plants and nearby areas.

RMC (India) (“Prism RMC”), a division of Prism Johnson Limited, is one of India’s leading ready-mixed concrete manufacturers. Set up in 1996, Prism RMC operates 92 ready mixed concrete plants in 44 cities and towns across the country and three aggregate quarries. Prism RMC has been at the forefront of setting high-performance standards for the plant, machinery, production, quality systems, and product services in the ready-mixed concrete industry.

Concrete commitment for a sustainable India
Prism RMC is firmly committed to sustainable development. It aims to improve the health and safety of its employees, reduce the impact of its operations on the environment, and provide its customers with high-quality concrete while making the communities it serves a better habitat. The actions are taken benefit the environment, and Prism RMC is steadfast in standing behind its sustainability choices and efforts.

Prism RMC has adopted a target to improve its energy efficiency by 9 percent, by 2024–25, against to the baseline year of 2021–22.
Prism RMC is committed to environmental protection and pollution prevention inside its plants and nearby areas. It has taken several initiatives for sustainable development by using industrial waste products such as fly ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS), etc., as a partial replacement of cement in concrete manufacturing, thereby assisting in the preservation of natural resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions caused by cement
production.

As part of its commitment towards sustainability, Prism RMC has also taken measures to use recycled water in production at most of its plants, which has helped reduce its water footprint. Prism RMC has adopted a target to reduce the water intensity of its output by 15 percent by 2024–25.

Prism RMC has also developed mixes using crushed stone sand (CSS), a by-product of the aggregate crushing
process. It also uses Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (GBS), a by product of the iron industry, and copper slag partially replaces fine aggregate in concrete. Build Green with Prism RMC Prism RMC continues to curate products that are both beneficial to its clients and environmentally friendly. A few of such products are listed below:

Foundationcrete® is a specially formulated concrete that makes foundations robust and long-lasting, thereby extending the structure’s service life. It aims to reduce core temperatures and thermal gradients while also providing a one-of-a-kind solution for concrete in foundations to resist the migration of harmful ingredients from subsoil conditions.

Envirocrete® is a high-performance, high-quality, sustainable concrete that meets present and future environmental goals of high durability and low environmental impact. This has been developed by replacing about 40 to 70 percent of clinker with by-products of other industries.

Easycrete® is an innovative concrete that does not require vibration for placing and compaction, thereby improving construction practises and the performance of the concrete. Since it eliminates the need for vibration, it results in an improved working environment, reduces noise pollution, and provides better safety to workers from noise and vibration induced illnesses.

The positive impact on the environment includes the following:
• The higher overall durability of Easycrete® enhances the structure’s lifespan beyond that of Traditionally Vibrated Concrete, thereby reducing the environmental footprint on a unit time basis.
• Lower energy consumption implies lower fossil fuel usage.
• The rapid discharge rate of Easycrete® reduces the dwell time of truck mixers at job sites, thereby reducing fossil fuel usage.
Perviouscrete®, as the name suggests, is a specially designed concrete that allows water to pass through and hereby aids in rainwater harvesting, enriching aquifers below the ground, and mitigating water accumulation and waterlogging on the cast concrete surfaces, thereby avoiding mosquito breeding.
