Dr. Fixit, the construction and the waterproofing expert, from the house of Pidilite Industries Ltd, is continuing its efforts in developing futuristic solutions and reach out to the end-users.
Product innovation
Dr. Fixit has launched Raincoat Coool at the recently concluded Acetech. Raincoat Coool provides waterproofing and insulation. It prevents dampness and seepage and also keeps house cool during the summers. Furthermore, it provides a superior sheen, substituting the need for exterior paint.
Dr. Fixit Raincoat Coool comes in pastel shades, enhancing the beauty of buildings, and is formulated to adapt to surface elongation and contraction. It is resistant to efflorescence and increases the life expectancy of a building’s exteriors.
Sanjay Bahadur, Global CEO – Construction Chemicals Division, Pidilite Industries said, “Modern construction is susceptible to seepage in the monsoon. Premium exterior paints have very limited capability to withstand the lashing of the rain. What is required is a high performance coating. The specially-formulated Dr. Fixit Raincoat Coool provides complete waterproofing while at the same time its heat-reducing properties keep the house cool.”
Raincoat Coool bagged the Design Wall Gold and Bronze Award at the Acetech 2015 held in Bengaluru and Mumbai respectively.
Earlier, the company introduced Dr. Fixit Blueseal that provides fool proof waterproofing system. It is a unique spray-applied polyurethane waterproofing system with no joints.
Dr. Fixit Experience Centre: A unique experience centreAccording to Bahadur, lack of awareness is the biggest problem as far as waterproofing industry is concerned. Dr. Fixit is taking some innovative approaches to deal with this. In September, the company has launched Dr. Fixit Experience Centre in Chennai, the first of its kind Experience Centre to spread awareness and facilitate exploration, while adopting modern and latest waterproofing solutions for architects, builders and contractors.
The centre is designed not only to showcase the range by surface area and innovations but it will also enhance the user experience by sharing visuals and demonstration for right application practices, end-to-end solutions, and bringing in global knowledge on waterproofing. “Dr. Fixit Experience Centre will be propagated as a place where the construction fraternity can seek expert advice on waterproofing and get trained,” the company said.
Commenting on this, Bahadur said “Chennai is the biggest commercial and industrial centre in South India with huge growth happening in infrastructure, industrial and housing segments. Therefore Chennai is an ideal location to set-up the first our many Experience Centres which will shortly come-up across India.”
Pidilite plans to replicate this initiative to all the major cities in India.
Enhancing consumer experience
In an aim to bring waterproofing to consumers’ fingertips, Dr. Fixit introduced its mobile app for Android and iOS. The app assists the users in finding waterproofing solutions recommendations even while on the move. The app offers features like technical drawings of the waterproofing system, cost calculator for material price, system solutions for creating a complete waterproof envelope of the structure.
Pidilite and Smart City movement
The construction chemicals industry is dreaming big on ‘100 smart cities’ development programme. Commenting on Pidilite’s participation in this movement, Bahadur said, “We would like to build and get involved in the making of 100 smart cities. The buildings should be built to last longer and save energy.”
The Construction Chemicals Division of Pidilite offers a range of applications such as waterproofing, repair solutions for existing structures and tile fixing solutions. It also offers host of other applications like exterior coatings, sealants, concrete admixtures, floorings and grouts to deal with construction related problems.
